The goal of ‘Locusts on the Horizon’ (ebook $2.99) was to create a holistic solution to the dilemma faced by the majority of Americans, the working middle class, most of whom cannot afford a piece of land and a fixed location retreat or a small farmstead out in the countryside, especially one that was paid off and well stocked.
We identify for the reader the six major elements needed to survive in the modern world (SEMS – Six Elements of Modern Survival), regardless of the social or economic conditions. For a family to continue to function, all six of these elements need to be provided for in one way or another.
We then show how a family can go about addressing those six needs in a sustainable fashion by creating a prepping plan for themselves based around the concept of MASH – Mobile Adaptable Sustainable Homestead. It is a concept inspired by the US Army’s old MASH units, which were essentially a small, portable village. We have scaled the concept down to a single family homestead which has the same basic a capabilities. It allows a family to have a long term or even a permanent presence in a particular when needed. Yet, it’s mobile and portable in it’s entirety if there is a need to relocate.
